We previously warned our Burlington County clients, particularly in the matrimonial part, that a severe judge shortage would likely result in longer wait times for divorces and routine hearings. Hopefully things will start to get a little better for litigants and judicial employees alike now that the Burlington Vicinage has added an extra judge; earlier this month, former New Jersey Attorney General Paula Dow was formally joined the Burlington County Superior Court. She was confirmed by the State Senate just weeks ago and was sworn onto the bench in a Mt. Holly ceremony (h/t Burlington County Times): Dow took the oath with her 18-year-old son and a family friend at her side. Assignment Judge Ronald E. Bookbinder welcomed her to the Burlington County bench's family division and presented her with her new black robe. Dow was the state attorney general from 2010 until January, when she was nominated for a judgeship.” Calling Dow a woman of “toughness, integrity, and compassion,” Senator Diane Allen (R-Burlington County) had previously lauded the former Attorney General's nomination to the bench: The Burlington Vicinage of the Superior Court has for a long time had a caseload that warranted the addition of judges to the bench,” said Allen. “I am pleased that Governor Christie has taken action to help relieve this burden by moving a discretionary seat into the county. An extra judge will help ensure not only that justice is done for the people of Burlington County, but that it is done swiftly.” Since our office is conveniently located on the White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights, New Jersey, DeMichele & DeMichele is conveniently located in close proximity to Routes 38, 70, 295, and the New Jersey Turnpike.
