Margate New Jeresy

In a significant development for the City of Margate, New Jersey, the law firm DeMichele & DeMichele, P.C., has been appointed as the Conflict/Alternate Prosecutor for the year 2025. This appointment underscores the city's commitment to maintaining the integrity of its legal proceedings by ensuring that potential conflicts of interest that arise in the municipal court are appropriately managed.

The role of a Conflict Prosecutor is pivotal in New Jersey's municipal court system. When the primary Municipal Court Prosecutor encounters a situation where a conflict of interest arises—be it due to prior associations, personal interests, or other biases—a Conflict/Alternate Prosecutor steps in to prosecute the case. The Conflict Prosecutor can be called upon when there are multiple cross charges involving two or more defendants which requires a second prosecutor for plea negotiation or ultimately a trial.   This mechanism ensures that all prosecutions are conducted impartially, upholding the principles of justice and fairness.

DeMichele & DeMichele, P.C., has a distinguished history of serving as Municipal Prosecutors in several South Jersey municipalities. Their expertise and experience of the firm's attorneys, make them well-suited for the responsibilities accompanying these appointments.

The appointment of DeMichele & DeMichele, P.C. as Margate's Conflict Prosecutor is a testament to their dedication to upholding justice and ensuring the smooth operation of municipal court. Their extensive experience in municipal prosecuting positions them to handle the complexities that can arise when a conflict prosecutor or “double” prosecutor is required.

In addition to their recent appointment in Margate, the firm's commitment to public service is evident through their continued roles in other municipalities. Most recently, Rick DeMichele was reappointed as the Municipal Prosecutor for the Borough of Lawnside for the calendar year 2025. This reappointment reflects the trust and confidence that local governments place in the firm's capabilities. See southjerseylawfirm.com.
